Overview of professional services:
At Allure Plastic Surgery Center we offer the full spectrum of care. I liken it to having “all of the tools in the toolbox,” from home skin care products to in-office skin procedures and injectable treatments, such as fillers and Botox®, to cosmetic facial, breast and body contouring surgery, to advanced surgical reconstructive procedures. This includes restorative procedures following extensive skin cancer removal, trauma, or mastectomy for breast cancer. In our practice, we now perform DIEP flap microsurgical breast reconstruction, which is a cutting-edge procedure using a woman’s own abdominal tissue to reconstruct her breast without sacrificing the core abdominal muscles, as is done with traditional TRAMflap breast reconstruction.
What aspect of your profession most inspired you to take this direction?
How do you stay current with advances in your field?
I was inspired observing the talented surgical team at the University of Pennsylvania and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia performing cleft lip and palate repairs on infants and young children, when I was a medical student. I was blown away by a surgeon’s ability to utterly transform a child’s life in one single operation, from one of certain ridicule to one of complete normalcy. I remember saying, “I want to be just like that.”
I love to learn! It involves a combination of reading the plastic surgery literature, attending continuing education conferences, and discussing cases with my colleagues. I believe that no competent surgeon, no matter how good he or she is, should ever be ashamed to ask for help or advice.
What might a patient feel stands out about your practice that would make them recommend you to family and friends?
Our patients tell us time and again that our practice feels like “family” to them, and that is exactly the type of culture I have worked very hard to cultivate here. I take as much time as necessary with them to understand their concerns and develop my idea of the best solution. My approach is very conservative, so this solution will represent my idea of the least risk, least amount of downtime, and least cost to get you where you want to be.
Is there anyone you’d like to meet whose history or actions have affected your professional life?
I believe that everything I possess and every talent and ability I have was graciously given to me by God. Until I get to meet Him, I strive to center my life and my practice on glorifying His name each and every new day.
