Practice Overview:
Living with pain can have a devastating effect on a person’s everyday life. At Associated Pain Specialists, our goal is to identify the cause of pain, find the best treatment options available and help our patients to get backt o the activities they love most. Using some of the most advanced technology in our field, we treat patients with a number of conditions including, but not limited to, Degenerative Disc Disease, herniated discs, spinal fractures, Facet Joint Disease, Failed Back Surgery, Radiculopathy, Spinal Stenosis and Sciatica.
What might a patient feel stands out about your practice that would make them recommend you to family or friends?
At Associated Pain Specialists we pride ourselves in understanding the uniqueness of every chronic pain case. Our patients are more than just patients to us. We are committed to finding the best possible solutions to fit each individual patient’s needs and work with each patient extensively to develop a customized treatment plan. We spend the time needed to evaluate our patients' medical histories, determine a course of treatment, answer all of their questions, and help them to understand both the disease process and the healing process. Our personal touch and interest in their well-being make a difference to our patients.
What sets your practice apart from your competitors?
We are at the leading edge of spine surgery technology and are now able to treat many chronic pain conditions with minimally invasive techniques. Procedures including Discectomy, Fusion, Foraminotomy and Rhizotomy are performed using an endoscope, a small camera positioned at the end of a cable that magnifies and illuminates the area of surgery onto a TV screen, giving the surgeon an enlarged view of the operating field. Using an endoscope enables the surgeon to perform the surgery through several small incisions, about 1cm in length, instead of the traditional, much larger incision. This helps patients to experience shorter recovery times, reduction in pain after surgery and reduced scarring. Associated Pain Specialists is one of few practices in New Jersey to offer minimally invasive spine surgery as an outpatient procedure, allowing patients to avoid long, expensive hospital stays and enjoy faster recoveries.
What would other physicians say about your practice?
One quality, in particular, that most of our referring physicians value is our belief that successfully treating acute and chronic pain patients requires a comprehensive healthcare plan tailored to each patient individually. In order to accomplish this, our staff works hard to keep in touch with our referring physicians and primary care physicians to discuss the best course of treatment for their patients. Interacting with other physicians helps us to fully understand our patient’s medical history as well as make adjustments to their treatment plans as seen necessary. Our cohesive approach lends itself to more satisfied patients and higher success rates.
