Overview:
After years of working for other restaurants, I wanted to open my own business. Gianna’s originally opened in February 2005, on First Avenue in Atlantic Highlands. My goal was to bring the true taste of Italian cooking to the area, along with some new twists on traditional Italian dishes, to showcase my passion and love for Italian cuisine. My philosophy for this business is very simply…give great food and service! Everything my staff and I do caters to the needs of my guests. I believe in using the best ingredients in my cooking; there should never be “shortcuts” when it comes to creating a great dish.We also accommodate private parties, rehearsal dinners, bridal and baby showers, and any special occasion, and offer off-premises catering as well.
What was the main factor for the launch of your new restaurant?
I mentioned before that my old location was on First Avenue. It was a beautiful space, but small. I wanted a large location to accommodate my growing business without sacrificing the food or service. We are now located on Route 36 in the Atlantic Highlands, and at this new location I can now handle larger parties; also we will soon be offering a full-service bar, with fine wine, cocktails, and martinis.
What makes your business stand out among others like yours?
There are a lot of Italian restaurants in the area and throughout New Jersey. I have been to some and have heard a lot of things about others. Consistency is my goal. If you come in and have a dish, and you love the flavor, the service, etc., it should be the same every time you come in. I feel that I do that!
What do you think someone would say who wanted to refer a friend or family member to your restaurant?
I always say “word of mouth” is the best advertisement, but whether a guest comes in from that or from seeing a print ad, it is my goal to have them come back again and again!
Who in your industry would you like to meet, if possible?
There are a lot of great chefs and very successful restaurant owners out there. It would be hard to pick just one, but if pressed, I would have to say Wolfgang Puck! I like his style of cooking and his sense of humor.
