Practice Overview
Shore Pain Management provides comprehensive therapy for a variety of painful conditions, including lower back and neck pain, sciatica, fibromyalgia, pain after surgery, muscle pain, headaches, and cancer pain. We use both conservative and minimally invasive therapies to achieve this goal. Chronic pain isa complex problem, and we collaborate with other medical specialists such as internists, psychologists, chiropractors, surgeons, and physical therapists to treat the whole patient. We also perform independent medical evaluations, and disability recommendations.
How does your facility stay current with new advances in your field?
Pain treatment isa young and very dynamic field, and requires constant vigilance to stay current with new therapies. At Shore Pain Management, we have found that pain conferences are the best way to incorporate new treatment ideas for our patients.
What might a patient feel stands out about your facility that would make them recommend you to family or friends?
Most patients are referred to a pain specialist based upon the recommendations of their primary care physician. Unfortunately, most pain specialists do not treat cancer pain or fibromyalgia, for example, but have a very narrow focus of pain management, such as herniated discs.
Some pain specialists do not accept insurance, but we do. Some pain specialists make pain patients wait more than four weeks for an appointment. Chronic pain patients should not have to wait more than four weeks for an appointment. At our facility patients can get an appointment within 1-2 weeks, and sometimes within days. Furthermore, some pain management specialists are not willing to speak to a patient on weekends or after office hours.
At Shore Pain Management we will accept all forms of communication from our patients including phone, email and online chat. We also have no problem discussing or speaking to our patients any day of the week, morning, afternoon or evening. We also believe in functional restoration and returning chronic pain patients to work or play.
In summary, we treat a wide variety of pain disorders, so, for example, if a patient has lower back pain and fibromyalgia, we will treat both types of pain.
