Cuozzo Orthodontic Specialists
Overview

As a board-certified orthodontist, Dr. Patrick Cuozzo’s main goal is to provide thorough, high quality treatment to children and adults. After earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry and his Certificate of Specialty in Orthodontics from the University of Pennsylvania, “Dr. Pat” joined his father, Dr. Gary Cuozzo, in the familyowned practice. The father-son team dissolved as Dr. Gary retired, leaving Dr. Pat with invaluable orthodontic knowledge.

What sets Cuozzo Orthodontic Specialists apart in this specialty?
Cuozzo Orthodontic Specialists has been creating beautiful smiles since 1972. We offer our clients a range of  braces and appliances to fit any need, including advanced orthodontics for patients in their late teens and adult years. Our state-of-the-art offices are comfortable and clean without the factory feel of some larger practices, and we have an experienced staff with a combined 70 years of service! I take a conservative and honest approach, and I’m committed to providing my patients with seamless care and the shortest treatment time possible while ensuring the best results. Our purpose is to provide quality orthodontic treatment in a caring atmosphere where we can make a lasting contribution to the health and welfare of our patients.

When should a child be evaluated for braces?
The Cuozzo Orthodontic approach is to start treatment at the correct time, which is when the patient has lost the majority of their baby teeth. This gives our patients the fastest treatment time possible with the fewest number of office visits. The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children have their first orthodontic evaluation at age 7 or 8. This does NOT mean that all children need intervention at this age. However, there are instances where early orthodontic treatment is indicated.

What advances in technology have improved your practice?
Giving a patient a beautiful smile requires the most advanced equipment, and we are one of the few practices in the area to utilize the innovative Cone Beam X-Ray technology and one of the few in New Jersey to have a VATECH PaX-i3D Green CBCT machine. This advanced 3D dental X-ray system incorporates Cone Beam technology with digital panorama features to produce precise, highclarity images for an extraordinarily accurate diagnosis while minimizing X-ray exposure. We make full use of the latest digital X-rays and photos, computerized charting, and high quality materials to ensure efficient and quality care.

Do braces leave stains or marks on the teeth when they come off?
One of the most common misconceptions I hear in my office is that braces cause staining or marks on the teeth. Braces do not cause staining and marks. Poor brushing habits during orthodontic treatment are the cause of staining and marks on your teeth. At Cuozzo Orthodontic Specialists, we recommend that our patients brush for 3 to 5 minutes, 3 or 4 times per day. Following those guidelines, parents and patients can be confident that after the braces come off, their teeth will look amazing.

Are there other ways by which your practice makes orthodontic care easier for patients?
We offer complimentary visits for new patients, and both our Lincroft and Sea Girt office locations offer convenient hours, accept all major credit cards, and have flexible payment plans including in-house financing. At Cuozzo Orthodontic Specialists our caring team is committed to our patients’ comfort and satisfaction from start to finish in the treatment process. You can expect a beautiful smile and your orthodontic treatment completed ON TIME.
