Early detection is the best protection…

HerSpace Breast Imaging Associates, opened in 2002, is an independent breast imaging and diagnostic center, founded by the nationally renowned Dr. Beth M. Deutch. She has interpreted more than 100,000 mammograms, and performed thousands of imaging-needle-guided breast biopsies.

Dr. Deutch spent 8 years as Director of Breast Imaging and Medical Director of the Wilentz Breast Center at Monmouth Medical Center, and was an assistant attending radiologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York.   In fact, she started that hospital’s breast MRI program and helped pioneer stereotactic breast biopsies. She was also the first radiologist in New Jersey certified to read digital mammographies to transform the hospital mammography experience by empowering the patient and changing the entire feel of the process. HerSpace is designed to provide patients with compassion and respect, while, at the same time, clinically detecting and diagnosing breast cancer at its earliest stages. The center is the only specialized breast-imaging group in Monmouth and Ocean Counties.

Beth says, "I feel privileged to do the work I do, and I take the responsibilities that come with it very seriously. I know that what my eyes detect could be life-altering to a woman, and the way this information is shared is crucial to expediting resolution. I am determined to give every mammogram my fullest attention, no matter how many I have already interpreted that day, and to give every woman my honest but caring words, no matter how difficult they may be to say and hear."

HerSpace provides women with the results of their mammography screening directly from the physician before leaving the facility, allowing an opportunity to ask any questions; if any abnormality is detected, it is fully worked up on the same day. Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer in women, and if found early, statistics show that women can beat it!
