Dr. Michael Chung is a Board certified orthodontist whose mission is to help his patients achieve optimum dental health and a lifetime of beautiful smiles. According to Dr. Chung, the American Association of Orthodontists recommends orthodontic screening by age 7. This important step in monitoring a child’s dental health is sometimes overlooked by parents. Since young children are growing rapidly, if there is an issue, an early phase of orthodontic treatment can prevent the problem from progressing and becoming more difficult to correct later on. Evaluation at this age does not necessarily lead to treatment, Dr. Chung explains; but every child should be seen by an orthodontist “just to take a look and make sure everything is the way it should be.”
While early treatment is always advisable, orthodontic treatment can be successful at any age, and Dr. Chung’s office offers free consultations for both children and adults. Many teens and adults choose the Invisalign® option over traditional braces. "Invisalign is a great option for patients who want straight teeth without wearing traditional braces,” Dr. Chung says. “Most of our patients tell us that their friends and coworkers don't even know they’re being treated." He is certified in all types of Invisalign treatment, and is recognized as an Invisalign Preferred Provider. Dr. Chung also specializes in “self-ligating brackets,” the newest brace technology that reduces pressure so braces are more comfortable to wear.
