When you think of Japanese food, a couple of words have to come into your mind: sushi, teriyaki, and hibachi. Yet, not all restaurants specializing in the  cuisine of the Land of the Rising Sun offer this complete trio of options. However, Asahi in Holmdel does feature those selections and more, which is sure  to please even the most finicky of eaters.

Asahi serves up the freshest in Far East cuisine and uses only the finest ingredients. You can start off with traditional appetizers such as edamame or  gyoza, which are steamed dumplings, or go for the soft shell crabs and perhaps sample the hokkaido shrimp, which are deep fried with chef's special sauce.  Don't forget about trying one of the six soups and half dozen salads which are available.

When it comes to sushi, you are sure to need to make several visits to sample all of Asahi's offerings. The restaurant features over 40 different types of  rolls to go along with a selection of 20-plus traditional sushi and sashimi choices. You can find everything from the well-known and popular California  roll to the Heaven Tuna Roll, featuring blackpepper tuna, spicy tuna, and white tuna along with cucumber and avocado. If you want to make it a really  fun night, have a seat at the sushi bar where a special selection of appetizers and entrees await.

If fish is not your dish, there are the yummy teriyaki, tempura, and noodle selections to help satisfy your hunger. The noodles are not just Japanese nor is  the rest of the menu. Guests can choose one of several Thai entrees to satisfy their Asian food craving. There are also several chef's special entrees  combining flavors from all around the Far East.

Of course, if you want to make sure a table is available for your night out, you can make reservations at any time of day or night via Asahi's online  reservation system.

Asahi is open Monday to Thursday 11:30 a.m.-10 p.m..; Friday, 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Sat. 12 p.m. to 11 p.m.; Sunday 1 p.m. to 10 p.m.
