While traveling all over Europe, Nada Koenigsberg often thought the Jersey Shore lacked a destination resembling one of the old world-style cafes where people go for any meal or just to gather with friends. This was just one of the reasons she opened Cake Bake & Roll in Long Branch’s Pier Village in September 2009.
“In the U.S., it’s either fast food or major restaurants,” says Nada, who taught in Long Branch schools for 10 years. “I wanted to create a social place where you can go for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and I also wanted to make it a place to gather on the weekends. There wasn’t a place for everyone in Pier Village.”
No matter when you visit Cake Bake & Roll, you will be amazed by the cozy ambiance inside. You can sit at the intimate bar and discuss the day with friends while enjoying one of the cafe’s signature crepes. You can grab a seat at one of the tables and use the free Wi-Fi or listen to live music on Friday nights. The entire setting reflects a very European and modern feel in a surrounding of warm colors.
Fresh items come out of Cake, Bake & Roll’s kitchen all day long, allowing the staff to offer wonderful baked goods and sandwiches on freshly made bread. There are also salads and soups at lunch. Crepes are sold throughout the day or you can try their luscious fondues at dinner. Don’t forget to save room for ice cream and one of the signature cupcakes.
Cake Bake & Roll provides more than just a place to relax. It’s also is a place to learn through various events on the cafe’s busy calendar. Each day local artists come in to make presentations and discuss their craft and work on display. Book clubs meet to talk about the latest novel. Even foreign language lessons are offered to those who want to improve their linguistic skills.
Cake Bake & Roll makes a perfect spot to hold a party with your friends, too. Nada and her staff can accommodate up to 40 people for an intimate gathering. “It’s the perfect place to come and feel good about yourself,” says Nada. “It’s a beautiful place to be.”
