According to his wife, Robert Cavallo is only good at three things: wood, steel, and concrete; so it’s a good thing he builds custom homes and additions rather than airplanes. For 28 years, Robert has been helping to design and build some of Monmouth County’s most stunning homes.
His philosophy is first to build each project so that it is structurally sound and strong. After strength, the goal is to make the projects beautiful. “We want you to pass by our projects, instantly stop, and say, ‘That’s the idea I am looking for. Who built that?’”
Robert worked for Branchforte Builders as an apprentice, finishing the Rutgers Athletic Center and the school’s Liberal Arts Theater, as well as the Freehold Township Municipal Building. He began his own company in Edison, NJ, in 1982, doing most of his work in Bridgewater for the first 5 years before moving to Freehold, where his work was concentrated for the next 15 years.
Robert always asks his customers to read design magazines, take pictures, and present all the ideas they would like in a project; then he asks for a wish list, even though it may be out of reach – the size of the project can always be reduced if it gets too costly. “In the end what is most important is 5 years from now when you look back…and are still happy with the design and size,” says Robert, who has been working in Colts Neck, Holmdel, and Rumson for the past 8 years. “Five years from now you won’t remember that the project took 30 days too long, but you’ll always remember if you’re happy with the outcome.”
Robert works with the most current designs available and sees activities such as choosing bathroom tile or creating a spectacular kitchen design as both fun and exciting. No matter what the project, clients can be sure that they are getting Robert’s 30 years of love of design and building, which comes across in every project his company creates.
