Dancing shows are all the rage on television. From celebrities to wannabes, it seems everyone is trying to show America that they have some serious moves. Locally, Colts Neck Dance & Performing Arts Academy is doing its best to offer  dance education and instruction to those who want to learn how to move with grace and rhythm.

Artistic director and owner Sheri Ladley-Calamusa uses her background as a professional dancer and the instruction she received from international teachers and choreographers to create the curriculum and choreograph the classes, teachers  and students. She also produces and directs the annual recitals.

Educating your child in dance and the performing arts is a responsibility Colts Neck Dance takes quite seriously. The Academy offers a positive atmosphere with quality instruction. The staff of professional teachers, which includes many with  award-winning credentials, has been selected because of their reputation and training.

There are a variety of offerings for all ages, starting with an introductory Mommy and Me class for two year olds. As your child gets older, the choices grow to include ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, and more. For those who reach the intermediate  level, have a good understanding of commitment, and want the challenge of competition there is the Raindance Competition Company at the Academy.

Most classes run once a week from September-June and last one hour. If your son or daughter is interested in more than one class, that request can be accommodated. The year concludes with an annual recital in June, featuring each class  and its routine. It is a special and rewarding way for Colts Neck Dance to finish out the school year by including families and friends.

Parents can watch the classes in one of the two spacious classrooms through two-way glass. There is a large waiting area with theater chairs and a dancers’ hallway for students to leave their dance bags inan d prepare for class.

Where and with whom you entrust your child’s dance training is a very important decision. That’s why Colts Neck Dance and Performing Arts Academy is committed to working together with you and your child to help them achieve their  dreams and personal goals.
