erik kitchen design, also known as ekd for short, believes that your kitchen is truly the heart of your family’s home. It’s where your friends and family gather, and more than ever before, it’s where the tone is set for the overall “feel” of your home. That is why owner Erik Mehr’s guiding principle is to create designs in cabinetry which not only stand the test of time, but also embody the quality of fine furniture. And don’t let the “kitchen” in the company name fool you .Erik specializes in meticulously detailed cabinetry designs for every room of your home, even the closets.

“I really labor over the details. In fact, I probably spend too much time during the initial planning stage of each and every one of my designs regardless of size or budget,” says Erik, who has been designing for over 15 years.“But I’m happy to do it because I know that my attention to detail early in the design process will pay huge dividends later in the form of a uniquely beautiful design that is also well thought out as to function.”

Clients can also rest assured that the attention to detail does not end with the design, but carries through to the successful  conclusion of the installation process, which Erik personally supervises at all stages. The end result is a well-crafted and worry-free installation which is always completed on-time and on budget. “I really value my clients and care about their expectations, which is probably why over 80% of my business is referral driven. To that end, I give all of my clients my cell phone number so that they can reach me whenever they have a question,” adds Erik.

While Erik’s designs range from sleek contemporary to ornate traditional, the one constant customers will find throughout is an emphasis on a balanced “furniture-style” design theme which unifies and transforms everyday kitchen cabinetry into one-of-a- kind kitchen furniture. You can meet with Erik in his Avon-by-the-Sea showroom, which features several full displays as well as a working kitchen. If you plan to visit in August, you may be able to see his exciting new display which will feature the resurgence of high gloss finishes in contemporary cabinetry.
