After teaching children for more than 15 years, the owners of Home Away From Home Academy discovered that children can learn more than you might think – at a very young age. It is this philosophy that Carmine and Phyllis Visone have applied to their method of teaching at the academy. The studies and statistics of the “Visone Method,” which have been published in book form, show overwhelming results, evidenced in the level of performance of the children who have attended the school. The book gives parents and teachers a complete and new understanding of how a child’s learning develops in the early years. This Holmdel couple has earned the Publisher’s Choice Award for “The Visone Method.”
Carmine says, “It is our message to let parents know how important education is. It sets these kids up for advancement as far as their future is concerned.” Through their research, the Visone’s have found that 30% of the children who attended Home Away From Home Academy 10 years ago are now enrolled in gifted and talented programs. The method advocates the belief that it is between the ages of infancy and 6 years old that perhaps as much as 50% of lifelong learning takes place.
The private school is recognized by the state and is accredited by the Middle State Commission on Elementary Schools. It has 50 certified teachers on staff; five departmentalized teachers are responsible for teaching physical education, foreign language, music, science, and art. A strong education curriculum is in place and a full-time registered nurse is on site. The teachers are certified in CPR and first-aid training.
Class programs are offered to children from as young as 3 months up through the third grade. For additional information about Home Away From Home Academy or the Visone Method please refer to the website. The Visone Method is available at Barnes and Noble bookstores.
