When owners Zoe and Steve Greenberg opened Sports Zone Bar and Grill, they wanted their guests to come to a place where they could relax, enjoy a great meal at a reasonable price with excellent service, and have a great time. They have certainly succeeded.
Located in the rear building of the Aberdeen Pavilion Shopping Center, the Greenbergs completely renovated a space that was a pool hall for 12 years, and in April they launched their warm and inviting restaurant, which has become a hit with the area.
“We’ve had customers say that we have created the best of both worlds.” says Zoe. “You can watch all your favorite sporting events on our 18 HDTVs where every seat is like a front row seat, and get a fabulous meal at the same time. We have a top notch international chef, because we want people to recognize us for our food. It’s not your typical sports bar menu.”
Guests can start off with one of over 20 appetizers, one favorite being the chicken wings, which are served naked, buffalo- style, or tossed in a delectable homemade Thai-chili sauce. The entrees are highlighted by the Certified Angus Steaks, which are dry aged 21 days, and the Certified Angus Beef hamburgers, notably the Hall of Fame burger. This 1/2-pound delight is topped with pulled pork, fried macaroni and cheese, cheddar, and served on a country bun. There is also a late night menu available most nights until 12:30 am.
Food is not the only reason to stop by Sports Zone. Happy hour is Monday-Friday 3-7 pm with $2 domestic drafts & other food & drink specials. The restaurant has live entertainment Thursday- Saturday, with music ranging from country to rock. (Check out the calendar at www.sportszone34.com for entertainment details.) There are also Texas Hold ‘Em tournaments on Sundays and Mondays, and Wednesday is always Trivia Night. Each offers nightly prizes, and you can even win a seat at the World Series of Poker. Wednesday is also family night. With every adult entree, kids can order a free meal from the kids menu.
And Sports Zone is only going to get bigger and better when the 5,000 square foot upstairs lounge opens this fall. It will be the perfect place for ping pong, shuffleboard, billiards, darts, catering and more. Come to Sports Zone and host a party or just hang out, enjoy a cocktail, and cheer on your favorite team.
