When second-generation restaurant owners Douglas and Robin Lentz re-opened historic  Original Oyster in the Highlands in May, they envisioned it becoming a destination where they would provide great service, atmosphere and food at a reasonable price. When you couple  fantastic food with water-view seating, it’s easy to see why Original Oyster is one of the best dining spots in Monmouth County. “All three of our rooms have great views of the bay. Our  dining room has a warm feel with its dark wood trim and rustic lighting, with a view of the water,  the patio seating overlooks the harbor, and our outdoor Tiki bar offers a relaxed atmosphere as  well,” general manager Albert Black says.

The Lentz’s are familiar with what it takes to operate a successful restaurant as they own Inlet Café in the Highlands, which has been Zagat-rated for the past 10 years. Executive chef Alex Rogers oversees both restaurants and he, along with “Chef d’ Cuisine” David Buzzelli, prepare  the fresh and fine food for Original Oyster, which isn’t limited to only their daily selection of various seafood entrees with an Italian flair. “Our chefs do a fantastic job by using fresh  ingredients to offer many specials throughout the week. They will use their creativity to offer as many as eight to ten entrée specials and six to eight appetizer specials daily. And our service will  always treat the customers the right way. We’re fortunate to have some of the best service in the area,” Black says.

Original Oyster is dedicated to offeringmore to the community than just your run-of-the-mill  meals. During the third week of every month Original Oyster holds a special “Wine Dinner” where Black and the chefs select a wine, and then tailor a specific meal that complements it.  Private parties for any occasion are available on or off-premises, and “dock and dine” meal  service for boats is also provided. Whether you want to enjoy a fabulous, scenic dinner with the  family, or if you have a holiday party to organize, dining at the Original Oyster is the perfect  choice for you.
