Our Pick - Vintner’s Circle

Vintner’s Circle
1670 Highway 35
Middletown
(732) 671-5200

If you have always wanted to make your own wine, but were too intimidated by the process, or  thought it would be too great of an investment, think again. The staff at Vintner’s Circle in  Middletown will help you craft your own wine in about seven weeks. Whether you are a  connoisseur, or have never plucked a grape off a vine before, Vintner’s Circle will guide you  step-by-step through the various wine-making stages. “It’s a hands-on process. We help to  obtain a wine-making license for each of our customers and guide them through it, but they do all the work,” general manager Amy Gordon says.

Vintner’s Circle features a vast variety of more than 80 different blends of concentrated juices to choose from. Once you find your favorite selection, it’s up to you to start the wine-making process, either at their convenient location, or your own! “We also sell the kits, with all the  juices and chemicals needed, for people to make their own wine right at home too. After you go through the fermentation, stabilization, and bottling process, your kit will yield 28 bottles of wine,” she says. And with prices starting at less than $300, you can manufacture your own  personalized wine for around $10 a bottle. “Twenty-eight bottles may sound like a lot, but you  will always have a bottle handy for any social occasion,” says Amy.

Of course, it would be difficult to make wine if you are unfamiliar with some of the flavors, or  are unsure what foods they pair with. That’s why Vintner’s Circle also offers a Wine Spectators “ABC’s of wine-tasting” class that teaches you the various, intricate steps of the tasting process. Other open houses and wine tastings are held once or two times a month, giving you plenty of options to become more familiar with the wonders of wine. Gift certificates are also available.

By offering a variety of options and education about the wine-making process, Vintner’s Circle is “a place for family and friends to gather, spend time with one another, and enrich their lives through tasting, making and enjoying wine,” Amy says. www.vintnerscircle.com/middletown
