Question:
What are some of the design trends people are looking toward?
Answer:
Designers work with a diverse client base, implementing many different design styles. Each designer brings to the table a unique vision planned for each individual client and their space. Design plans should reflect the lifestyle and personality of each client.
The professional planning of space, light, color and scale make the difference between a home that’s just furnished, and a well thought out design plan. The combination of a skilled design team and extraordinary resources can give the ability to perfectly tailor a clients design needs.
Today’s life styles are hectic for most people, and their homes truly become their havens. Recently, there has been a trend towards an eclectic mix of home furnishings and color palettes that soothe and energize. By mixing painted furniture with fine woods, antiques with architectural elements, natural stones and metals with soft textiles, a more interesting and creative environment develops.
Fabrics today play a large part in the overall design project. Current trends are larger motif patterns and a mix of natural textures, which work well to create a more relaxed environment. Today’s color palette includes a wide spectrum of brights including lime greens, plums, blues, fuchsias, pinks, complimented by chocolate, black and neutral.
• Upholstered furniture styles are focusing more on shape and fine details such as nail trim, exposed wood frames and using a mix of textures.
• Colorful pillows always add interest.
• Drapery treatments have evolved into a simpler design using straight panels in patterned fabrics trimming along the edge with tapes and contrast fabrics, with an under treatment of woven wood shades of natural grasses.
• Changes in flooring have veered towards the use of hardwood floors and custom area rugs. Many carpet companies today offer custom coloring and design options.
• The use of accessories always completes the space and personalizes the project.
