The Sternfelds of Marlboro made the short move north from Freehold Township in 1987.
The Sternfelds of Marlboro made the short move north from Freehold Township in 1987. They remembered with a smile the need to rent a place for a year while their new home was being built. They worked closely with their architect to create a light-filled contemporary-inspired home that pays homage to Frank Lloyd Wright’s early to mid-career design concepts. Prairie as well as Asian influences were used, and two large additions, one constructed in 1990 and the second in 1994, seamlessly create variations on the original design theme. The result is their much-beloved home of 7,000 square feet, featuring a large kitchen, many comfortable public living spaces, and a number of private areas that are perfect for meditation or study.
Marc and Arleen Sternfeld reflect on their time in Marlboro as joyous and
family-oriented. Their children received a quality education in the public schools; Marlboro Jewish Center, which became an integral part of their family’s life, is just a short drive away. Arleen, an educator, and Marc, a well-traveled investment banker, have both found new directions in their lives now that their two boys are grown and well on their way to creating rich lives of their own.
Marc took an early retirement from the banking business and decided to study and become a rabbi. His studies have recently ended and he now looks forward to a rich and spiritually rewarding second career. Arleen, a long-time-quilter, has also embarked on a new venture, partnering with two others in a sewing specialty store called Sew and Sews, located in Manalapan. The Sternfelds believe a creative and challenging life is a life well-lived, and their home and new life directions certainly confirm their commitment to living life to the fullest.

The entrance to the Sternfeld home combines natural materials with shapes and angles that take on an almost sculptural quality. Tranquility and nature combine to create a Shangri-La of a backyard. A pool with a waterfall serves as a perfect backdrop to th

Both Arleen and Marc have a keen interest in art, and their home reflects that interest. The long hallway serves as passageway and gallery, displaying a 3-D collage-inspired iron sculpture, along with rare and unique autographs.
