The Namazi Family Put Down Roots on the Right Coast
In late 2005, Cyrus and Jennifer Namazi were preparing for culture shock as Cyrus’ job was relocated from the San Francisco Bay area to Monmouth County. At that time, all the Namizi’s knew of the Garden State had been glimpsed from movies, television and the drive to New York City from Newark Airport. But, now they were about to make New Jersey their new home.
Upon their arrival, they initially limited their search for a home close to Cyrus’ office in Red Bank, but soon began to feel that the area was too densely populated for their comfort. So, they expanded their search; preferring a brand new house, they decided on a 5,100 square-foot, 5-bedroom, 41/2-bath colonial, still under construction, in a newly developing Marlboro neighborhood.
As an added bonus to purchasing the house mid-construction, Cyrus and Jennifer were thrilled to be able to plan and customize the remainder of the project, along with the builder. Jennifer was free to decorate, starting with a blank slate, and Cyrus, wanting to incorporate a little integrated technology, added high-tech touches, such as a built in 4-zone surround sound system.
With the home completed and well to their liking, the Namazi’s were all moved in by April of 2006. However, while much of the interior of the home was ready from move-in day, the outside, particularly the backyard, has always been more of a continuing work-in-progress. Over the years, the Namazi’s have added an elevated TimberTec® deck, built in barbecue, and a fire pit, perfect for gathering their two children, now two and three years old, around to roast a few marshmallows.
The home is also perfect for entertaining, and Cyrus and Jennifer do a lot of entertaining. The Namizi’s host their fair share of neighborhood parties, and also seem to attract many houseguests from California, looking to visit the New York Metro area. With the large majority of their family residing 3,000 miles away, it would seem unlikely that Cyrus and Jennifer would host many major holiday family gatherings, but that is exactly what they have done every year since moving in.
It seems as though New Jersey wasn’t quite the culture shock that the Namazi’s had expected. Jennifer sums up her feelings on her new corner of the world: “I was born and raised a California girl, but I have fallen in love with the East Coast. I’ve already put my foot down… I’m never going back.”
Not wanting to force a West Coast style on their more traditional, new East Coast home, The Namzi’s brought very few furnishings with them from California, but still keep a touch of California with some well-placed palm trees and spiritual-themed statues.
The bright, open eat-in kitchen features a Kitchen-Aide® double-wall oven, porcelain tile floors, wide black galaxy granite countertops, custom cherry cabinets, a tumbled marble backsplash, as well as a butler’s pantry.
For the conservatory, the Namazi’s decided to forego any shades or window treatments, allowing the room to flood with natural light. A space for the entire family, this is where Jennifer and the kids spend a lot of their time. She can get some work done in her adjoining office and still keep an eye on the children as they play or watch television.
A custom Swarovski® crystal chandelier hangs high above the soaring 2–story foyer, brilliantly illuminating the dramatic, curved, wrought-iron accented staircase and Brazilian cherrywood floors that extend throughout the home.

The deep red ceiling adds to the warm glow of the rich flamed, inlayed wood of the Henredon dining room table and china cabinet. The 12 matching, emerald green upholstered chairs can easily accommodate a large dinner party.

The spacious master bedroom features a tray ceiling with recessed lighting and a fireplace in the sitting area. Jennifer refers to the style of furniture as “transitional”, somewhere between modern and traditional.

The master bath is outfitted with cherry cabinets and state-of-the-art Kohler® fixtures, including a jetted tub, double sinks, and a walk-in tile shower with multiple body spray jets and rain shower.
