In the World of Wine and Spirits — Knowledge is Power!
Are you ready to find the wines you never knew would make you happy? Are you ready to discover the smaller producers who hand craft their wines? Are you ready for the great diversity of the wine world, as well as the great values out there? Well, we're ready to help! That is why we are here!
One of the unexpected gems you might discover is Domaine Monpertuis. Paul Jeune of Monpertuis is primarily a Chateauneuf de Papes producer. If you don't know the grand wines of this Southern Rhone town, you will want to. Chateauneuf de Papes translates into English as New House of the Popes. In 1308 Pope Clement V relocated the Papacy to Avignon, and the Avignon Popes were great lovers of wine. They greatly promoted the development of the local wines and they soon came to be known as Vin du Pape. This soon transformed in to the current Chateauneuf de Papes.
But, today I want to tell you about Monpertuis Vignoble de la Ramiere Cotes du Rhone. Made right outside of the Chateauneuf area, this Cotes du Rhone is seamless. Ample fruit and earth notes are perfectly balanced with gentle tannins and acidity; the wine can be enjoyed with or without food.
It has substance, while at the same time appearing weightless due to its perfect balance. And, the best part? If the wines of Chateauneuf are never inexpensive, even while they can offer great value, the Monpertuis Cotes du Rhone affords you a chance to try the noble breeding of this wine making area for under $20! Welcome to the party!
Sincerely,
Scott Reiner
